Jesmond Festival Ceilidh 2024
We had a great time playing for the ceilidh, as the dancers were so enthusiastic – especially Robin and Rachael who were able to join in to make up numbers.

Delia’s funeral 1 March 2024
On 1 March 2024 the Redheughers played music for the funeral of Dr Delia Wakelin. Delia was one of our longstanding , original band members, attending every session for over forty years until she began to suffer from a progressive debilitating illness. She was an excellent fiddle player and a kind, humorous and unassuming person, beloved by us all.
Forthcoming events
In addition to our monthly performances for Tyneside Ceilidh Nights we are practising and looking forward to competing in the morpeth gathering on 6 April, and our ceilidh for Jesmond festival, on 17 May.

Well our ceilidh for Jesmond Festival was a real success. Tickets were sold out and we had almost 50 dancers (not counting a couple of “gate crashers” who joined us for one dance, attracted by our music). Everyone had a great time so we hope this will become a regular event.
We’re looking forward to our part in Jesmond Community Festival – playing for a ceilidh on Friday 19th May at St Hilda’s Church, Thornleigh Road, Jesmond. This event is open to all – advance booking essential.
Sadly due to ill health or unavailability of members we have been forced to withdraw from the competition this year.
The Redheughers are once again attending the Morpeth Gathering. You will find us in the Town Hall for refreshments from 12:00 noon and in St Georges Church from 13:00 onwards ready for the competition.
We’ll do our best to win the cup yet again!
Why not come along to support us?
Last nights ceilidh – our first “under new administration” as “Tyneside Ceilidh Nights” was really enjoyable; although you wouldnt always guess that from the band’s expressions! Anyway the dancers seemed to be enjoying themselves. There’s always room for more!
